Tab Scriptoria

Quick guide

Transcribe a recording
  1. Choose an audio file (MP3, M4A or WAV) of a recording you own or may use.
  2. Pick the passage: a start time and a length, or the full recording. Shorter passages finish sooner.
  3. Set the guitar type (or leave Auto) and, if two or three guitars play, how many and who plays rhythm or lead.
  4. Press Transcribe. You get sheet music and tab with chord names and fingerings: play it beside the recording, loop and slow it down, and export MIDI or text.
Song → guitar: covers and solos

Add any song, even one without guitar. Tab Scriptoria finds its beats, bars, chords and key; pick the bars you want and make a cover in a style (pop, funk, jazz, flamenco, metal, classical) at your level, a solo over them, or a solo dropped into the song.

Solo ideas

Type the chords and tempo, choose a style and get solo sketches; ask for variations, or open the Map to see every note that fits each chord across the neck.

Turn any guitar recording into playable tab

Paste a YouTube link or choose an audio file. Tab Scriptoria listens for the guitar, writes every note as sheet music and tab with chord names and fingerings, and plays it back next to the recording.

There is no length limit: longer recordings take more time and memory, so you can start with a passage.
